What happens in a lesson?

 

 

Your teacher uses a gentle hands-on method with verbal instructions to help you find ease and balance within yourself in simple movements and everyday activities – such as sitting, standing, walking or bending. This will help you to increase your awareness and identify habitual patterns and allow you to undo these habits and replace them with improved body use for more natural ease of movement.

We work with you by using a chair, also by asking you to lie on an Alexander table in semi-supine position. We use a safe hands-on technique to release tension and restore natural coordination. We will take you through movement patterns and observe how you are using yourself and work with you to improve your posture, coordination and balance.


We will give you advice and suggest things to do in everyday life to improve your performance. We will advise on ergonomics learning how to avoid problems at home and at work.

Although the Alexander Technique works on the entire musculo-skeletal system, we often work with people who have specific problems. F.M. Alexander the founder was famous for helping musicians, actors and people with various issues from stutterers to golfers! So we are happy to work with you as an individual that is why this method is best taught on a one-to-one basis.
